Birth Control Question/Period?

Started the pill Oct.13/07 (Alesse) the first month was fine, second month had breakthrough bleeding and regular periods. In January my period started a few days after starting the sugar pills and only lasted a few days. Then I started the new pack on Jan 13th and than on the 22nd I had more bleeding it started light and then got somewhat heavy now (Jan 30th) still have bleeding but not significant amount. I took a few pills late this month two were significant amounts of time like 7 hours and a couple were 1.5hours late. Could this bleeding I am currently experiencing because of simply taking a pill late. I begin the sugar pills again this upcoming Sunday (Feb 3). I thought you were only suppose to experience this during the first few months not after. Any info would be great, new to the pill. Thanks
