CAN you place a metal airsoft gun in your checked baggage?

i want to place a full metal m9 airsoft gas pistol in my checked baggage bc i dont want to pay the money for shipping. im wondering if you can do that? i know the TSA website says its fine, but what should i say to the person who checks my baggage? do i need to fill out some sort of form. keep in mind this gun looks EXACTLY like a real gun. i dont plan on BRINGING IT OUT in the airport. i just want to transport it on the plane without paying any money for shipping! any answers would be great. except for trolls who dont understand im talking about a FAKE gun that shoots PLASTIC bbs! :) thanks! :)
