Talk to the prosecutor before the trial; you may be able to plead to a lesser charge that has no points, along with a reduced fine (in New Jersey, just about all charges have fines). Maybe - just MAYBE - the prosecutor may agree to dismiss the charge IF he's in a good mood, but don't count on it.
