Should i give up on the guy or not?

So this guy is always saying hey beautiful! and hugs me everytime he sees me and then one day i get mad cause i thought i saw him makin out with another girl so i blow up on him and he ends up apolgizing and asking for my number we text for about 2 weeks then all of a sudden his grandpa dies and the next monday at school he is soo distant and he wont even talk to me he hasnt texted me at all and it has been a week in a half! should i just give up on this guy? or should i text him and still try to make an effort i feel bad cause his grandpa died so is that why he is acting wierd? but the thing is he still talks to eveyone else like nothing even happened and he is startin to flirt with a couple of girls and me and him done even talk anymore what should i do?
