How do I fix a drivers side window that is very tough to roll up?

I have a 1996 Civic and the window is really tough to roll up, but when it rains the problem disappears. So I guess it needs a lubricant, but where? It is a manual crank and I've broken one handle and stripped another. Now I'm on my third. Thanks.
